PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Program
Manager, Technical Services at the Washington
State Library, A Division of the Office
of the Secretary of State, Olympia, WA from July 2002 to present.
I manage a $2,000,000 biennial budget and supervise
14 FTE in three departments (Cataloging, Acquisitions, and Database
Maintenance). I serve on the Library Cabinet and advise the State
Librarian. I am also the webmaster for our web
library catalogs.
Innovative Coordinator at the Washington
State Library, Olympia, WA from August 2001 to June 2002.
Principal Library Information Specialist coordinating
the State Library and its branches use of the Innovative Interfaces,
Inc. library automation system in a consortium with the Cooperating
Libraries In Olympia (CLIO) including redesigning our online
catalog as well as providing Innovative training.

Librarian/Systems Librarian at Northeastern
State University, Tahlequah, OK from March 2001 to July 2001.
Faculty Reference Librarian. I continued
my work in Instructional Technology, Information Literacy and web
design. I was also the Systems Librarian, responsible for a
VTLS library system running in
UNIX using an ORACLE database.
Instructional Technology Librarian at The
Evergreen State College, Olympia, WA from October 1999 to March
2001.
I served as an automation project
Librarian and Library web master as well as working directly
with the faculty as the campus WebCT trainer and designer and a
Consultant for faculty in general using a wide variety of technological
tools to further the goal of Information Literacy. As
a member of the team teaching our summer Instructional
Technology Institute for faculty, I did workshops on a number of
tools and methods, including WebCT, Web page design and construction,
ReSearching on the Web, Copyright, and Digital Library Resources.
Director,
Instructional Technology Project at The
Evergreen State College, Olympia, WA from October 1998 to September
1999.
This was a limited, one year campus project to jump start
the use of Instructional Technologies at Evergreen and to assess useful
directions. Duties included researching, developing, and disseminating
various Instructional Technologies to the faculty and students in
pursuit of integrating Information Literacy into teaching.
Head
of Circulation at The Evergreen
State College Library,
Olympia, WA from December 1993 to September 1998.
Duties include hiring/training/supervising 15-20 part
time student employees and 5.5 FTE staff. Managing the daily
and long term operation of and planning for the Circulation department,
including use of the DYNIX (1989-1996) and Innovative (1996-)
automation systems and overseeing a budget of $200,000. Also was
the webmaster of the Library's web site.

Duties include providing full academic reference service
in varied fields, including bibliographic instruction, searching
CD-ROM and online computer systems, participating in reference and
automation meetings, and being the Selector for Science Fiction/Fantasy,
Computers, and History. This position was part time 1/89-6/90 and was half
time 9/90-6/91 and full time 9/91 to 12/91.
Library Supervisor A in Circulation at The Evergreen
State College Library, Olympia, WA from August 1985 to December
1993.
Duties include hiring/training/supervising 12 or more
student library assistants, producing statistical reports, writing
circulation and automation manuals, performing billing and other
technical operations, serving on committees, and working with ALIS
(1982-1989) and DYNIX (1989-1996) automated systems.
Library Technician III in Technical Services at The
Evergreen State College Library, Olympia, WA from November 1983
to August 1985.
Duties included tagging and inputting catalog records
on the WLN system, processing new book and non-print materials,
ordering products, leading one work study student aide, updating Cataloging
In Publication records, and other technical duties.
Library Technician II in Technical Services at The
Evergreen State College Library, Olympia, WA from September 1978
to November 1983.
Duties included updating Cataloging In Publication
records, searching on the WLN database, matching cataloging
to materials received, leading one work study student aide.
Library Technician I in the Serial Records and Acquisitions
departments of the Science & Engineering Library at Washington
State University, Pullman, WA from June 1977 to August 1978.
Duties included checking periodicals in Kardex,
processing periodicals, preparing periodicals for binding,
routing acquisition information to librarians, preparing acquisition
orders, processing government documents.

Communication is the beginning
and end of all projects. To aid in my communications skills, I have participated
in workshops in consensus training, communication styles, cultural diversity,
and management. I have done television, radio, and newspaper interviews
as well as being a published author.

VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES
I am the Director, Web Master and Librarian
for The Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Society. I organize our non-profit organization and projects to
preserve her work, purchase items for our library, design and maintain
the Society web site http://www.ellawheelerwilcox.org,
and moderate the Society's emailing discussion list.
For many years (1991-1994, 1997-1998) I was
on the Super Saturday Committee at The Evergreen State College which
was responsible for hosting an annual local community arts fair. I was
in charge of the Medieval Fair portion in addition to general committee
duties.
I have held various offices with the Olympia
Simulation Gaming Association (OSGA) since 1978 (including President
and Editor of their newsletter). As part of that organization I have done
newspaper interviews and organized tournaments and auctions.
I have also held most offices in my local
branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism
(SCA) since 1981 including Seneschal (President) of the Olympia area branch
and editor of their newsletter, as well as regional offices including responsibility
for all publications in the Northwest region including a monthly newsletter
with a circulation of 1600.
I have also been the Webmaster for our Unitarian
Universalist Church of Tahlequah. I've registered our domain name, manage
our emailing list, and done our web design work. I have also participated
in many church activities including two of our musical groups, our Bell
Choir and our Irish music group, Celtic Traditions.
